UK's defiant May tells critics it's her Brexit deal or chaos

There are growing suggestions that Conservative backbenchers will imminently move to force a no-confidence vote against her, and those MPs will be emboldened by the resignation of such a senior Brexit-supporting minister.

Six government ministers, including Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab, one of the architects of the deal, quit Thursday as the prime minister faced a barrage of criticism over the plan in Parliament, raising the possibility that she could face a challenge to her leadership.

Asked if she would allow her next Brexit Secretary to rewrite the deal, she said Mr Gove was doing an excellent job is his current position.

Dominic Raab quit the role on Thursday over "fatal flaws" in the agreement.

"It would be to take a path of deep and grave uncertainty when the British people just want us to get on with it".

The latest market gyrations came as the nation's business sector gave a lukewarm verdict to the proposed agreement, and amid worries that British Prime Minister Theresa May could soon face a no-confidence vote.

Social media has unsurprisingly erupted following the announcement of Theresa May's draft European Union withdrawal agreement on Wednesday night.

Yesterday's cabinet resignations weakened May, and there is a question of whether May herself will survive the week as prime minister.

Here's a reminder of how that process works: Conservative MPs can submit formal letters of no confidence in the leader of the party to the chair of the backbench 1922 Committee, Sir Graham Brady.

It is understood that a group of cabinet ministers are considering whether to try to force Mrs May to make some changes to the withdrawal deal.

If by then a permanent future trade deal has not been agreed there would be an extension, but that could involve bringing in arrangements to avoid a hard border being introduced between Northern Ireland and the neighboring Irish Republic.

Looking exhausted and drawn, she said she believed in her Brexit plan "with every fibre of my being", and ruled out a People's Vote.

Securing the deal has involved taking "difficult and uncomfortable decisions", she said, after facing widespread opposition to the draft deal from lawmakers in parliament earlier yesterday. "The government must withdraw this half-baked deal", he said in the House of Commons.

Both members from May's Tory party and opposition Labour told her that her draft deal is disastrous and would not pass the United Kingdom parliament, which is expected to vote on the deal sometime in December.

This could be a gale that's weathered in a few days, or a serious storm that sweeps the government away.

May argued that her proposal on the withdrawal agreement was the best deal Britain could hope to get, warning that the only alternatives were risking leaving without a deal, or no Brexit at all. He said he could not "in good conscious support the terms" of the deal he helped to craft.
