US turns up heat on Pakistan as India marks Mumbai attacks anniversary

The US President took to Twitter saying, "On the ten-year anniversary of the Mumbai terror attack, the US stands with the people of India in their quest for justice". As many as 166 people were killed in the attack carried out by 10 LeT terrorists.

Pompeo further asserted that the United States will call upon Pakistan, to uphold its UN Security Council obligation to implement sanctions against the terrorists responsible for this atrocity.

It has been 10 years since the horrific 26/11 Mumbai terror attack took place whose dark memories are still freshly remember till day.

In May 2005, Lashkar-e-Taiba was added to sanctions list of the UN Security Council.

The gunmen who waged the attack were killed or captured.

The current rabbi is to unveil a new memorial at the centre to all those who died in the 26/11 attacks.

"The United States is committed to seeing that those responsible for this attack face justice", said Mr Pompeo while a separate statement issued by the State Department said the U.S. was also "committed to working with our global partners" to achieve this goal.

In November 2012, India hanged the lone surviving gunman from the attacks.
