Mulvaney: $5B Border Wall Demand 'Came Down,' But Dems Walked Out

President Trump continued to blame Democrats for the current government shutdown, which has lasted for a week and affects roughly 25 percent of the federal government.

In 2018, the Trump administration tried unsuccessfully to end DACA, and has basically adopted a zero tolerance immigration policy centered around building a massive border wall.

Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney told reporters today that the White House has backed down from its $5 billion demand for a border wall, offering a lower number to Democrats last weekend. Only a few lawmakers presided over the brief sessions, while congressional leaders and rank-and-file members were nearly entirely absent.

President Donald Trump threatened Friday to close the US border with Mexico, holding firm on his insistence that congressional Democrats get on board with funding a wall to help stave off illegal immigrants pouring into the country from the south.

In a befuddling series of tweets Friday, President Trump appeared to threaten both the Democrats and US trade relations with Mexico when he suggested he would close the southern border.

And ended his symphony of stupidity by accusing "Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador" of taking money from the US and threatening to cut off aid to the countries.

New York's Skyline Suddenly Lit Up With A Blue Glow
Lights flickered in the borough, the explosion could be seen lighting up the skyline and sky turned an eerie teal blue. Authorities in NY on Thursday said they were looking into a "transformer incident" following reports of an explosion.

"Word is that a new Caravan is forming in Honduras and they are doing nothing about it".

Trump said he would then take US-Mexican relations back to the days before the NAFTA agreement opened free trade across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Misguided as Trump's wall is, the smart thing for Democrats to do would be to give him some money for it in exchange for legalizing Dreamers and those he kicked off "temporary protected status".

White House aides ignored several requests for comment about any talks Thursday ahead of what turned out to be short House and Senate sessions. "We will be cutting off all aid to these 3 countries - taking advantage of USA for years!" he said.

"He's staying in Washington, D.C., over New Year's", said Mulvaney, who is set to become Trump's acting chief of staff next month. In an appearance on Fox News, Mulvaney said that the president had "canceled his plans for Christmas, and now he's canceled his plan for New Year's". "Do the Dems realize that most of the people not getting paid are Democrats?" he said Thursday.

For instance, Mulvaney focused mostly on Pelosi during one Sunday morning television, saying she is "beholden to her left wing to where she can not be seen as agreeing with the president on anything until she's actually speaker". ".We were fully expecting them to come back and continue those negotiations".
