Nintendo Switch is fastest-selling console of the generation in US

Ultimate has become officially the fastest-selling Nintendo home console game ever in Europe, beating Mario Kart Wii by 30% - which went on to sell 37 million copies worldwide. Nintendo said that since the system's launch in March 2017 to November 2018, Nintendo sold more than 8.7 million units.

But that doesn't seem to have stopped sales, with The NPD Group reporting that, in the USA, the Switch has been the fastest-selling console this generation over the last 21 months. Ultimate for Switch, so it's the flawless time for PDP to launch a line of wired fight pads styled after some of Nintendo's most recognizable characters. (Both of those consoles came out in 2013.) Nintendo is expected to sell 17.3 million Switch consoles worldwide in 2019. Ultimate becoming the fastest-selling Nintendo console game of all time in Australia and New Zealand. As Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé shared last week, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild all have attach rates of better than 50 percent (meaning half of all Switch owners have these games). They've grown 105% over 2017.

Explosion near pub in Sapporo, Japan injures dozens
More than 40 people were injured in an explosion Sunday night at a Japanese restaurant in northern Japan , authorities said. Cops have reportedly cordoned off the site amid fears there could be secondary explosions.

About 1.2 million copies of the game were sold in Japan and it took the top spot in United Kingdom sales charts on launch week, though it dropped to the number four spot a week later.

Since the Switch launched three years later than its two rivals it'll never catch up, and so direct comparisons between overall sales are essentially meaningless.
