Patriots' Tom Brady says he 'absolutely' believes he'll be back in 2019

Patriots' Tom Brady says he 'absolutely' believes he'll be back in 2019

Count quarterback Tom Brady among those not experiencing the winter doldrums though.

Despite struggling on the field this season, the 41-year-old said he still wakes up every day feeling "fulfilled" with what he's doing. The Patriots would go on to lose that game by a final of 17-10 and considering how we are used to seeing Brady lead New England's offense to strong showings, these last two games have to be concerning for the team.

Despite back-to-back losses at the Miami Dolphins and the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England entered Week 16 on track to be the number three seeds in the AFC behind the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans.

"I absolutely believe I will", Brady said on Wednesday in his weekly interview on Westwood One. "I'm going to try to do as best (as) I possibly can".

"I've been able to be in a career for 19 years that I love", Brady said.

However, the journey from sixth-round pick to greatest of all time (GOAT) has been nothing if not unusual, and it appears that journey will continue well into the future. "I know I've talked about it a long time". It will certainly be a challenge.

This season has been an interesting one for Brady. "I don't take any of these things for granted, but I hope I can keep playing".

Fans anxious about the latter half of that equation may need to take a breath and a step back to fully appreciate what they have starting for them under center, even in a "down" year. Brady has thrown 11 interceptions, his highest total since 2013, and his QBR is 67.4, his lowest since that same season. According to NFL Matchup on ESPN, the Steelers only have a 2.5 percent drop rate, which is good for fifth-best in the NFL.
