Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg to host Golden Globe ceremony

Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg to host Golden Globe ceremony

While hosting the Academy Awards may be the job that virtually no one except for Kevin Hart wants this year, the Golden Globes tends to be more of an openly accept gig.

Several movie stars were among the actors nominated for television performances, including Julia Roberts, Amy Adams, Jim Carrey and Michael Douglas.

The original push centered on "The Dark Knight", Christopher Nolan's sequel to "Batman Begins", which failed to receive a best-picture nomination (although Heath Ledger was honored, posthumously, for his role as the Joker).

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will unveil their nominations beginning at 8:15 a.m. EST.

Poland's "Cold War", one of the most highly acclaimed foreign language films of the year, was shockingly shut out of the foreign language category.

On the television side, awards were even more widely dispersed among the likes of The Americans, Barry, Homecoming, The Kominsky Method and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. For the first time, FX bested heavyweights like HBO, Netflix and Amazon with a network-best 10 nods, even though its Atlanta was overlooked entirely. "Black Panther" also nabbed a Best Original Song nomination for Kendrick Lamar's "All The Stars" and Best Original Score by Ludwig Göransson.

Actor, Drama: Bradley Cooper, A Star is Born; Willem Dafoe, At Eternity's Gate; Lucas Hedges, Boy Erased; Rami Malek, Bohemian Rhapsody; John David Washington, BlacKkKlansman. Just past year it was up for drama series, supporting actress (Chrissy Metz), and actor (Sterling K. Brown, who won). Superhero movies generally get the shaft when it comes to these ceremonies (unless we're talking about the People's Choice or MTV Movie Awards, which aren't taken seriously at all, hence the Best Kiss category).

Performers like Constance Wu (Crazy Rich Asians), Regina King (Beale Street), Ali and Washington, insured a somewhat diverse field of nominees. A24, the studio behind First Reformed, seemed to be having a bit of an off year at the Globes, as Eighth Grade also missing out on a Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy nomination, while Hereditary's Toni Collette was similarly snubbed from best actress in a drama. At the previous Globes, presenter Natalie Portman pointedly introduced the all-male directing nominees. That's all well and good for the Comedy side, but oh boy, the competition for the Drama category is going to be fierce.

He was given the group's Cecil B DeMille achievement award in 1994. The Killing Eve star and the Brooklyn Nine-Nine comedian will follow in the footsteps of this year's host, Seth Meyers, in January.
