Trump appears to snub high-fiving Putin and Saudi prince

Khashoggi, a United States resident, was murdered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October.

Donald Trump, who has staunchly defended the prince amid a global backlash over last month's brutal killing in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul of critic and columnist Jamal Khashoggi, was not one of them.

Mr Trump later said there was "no discussion" but did not rule out holding longer talks with the crown prince during the two-day summit.

However, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prince Mohammed later exchanged a high-five and a handshake and laughed heartily as they took seats next to each other in the main meeting room.

The two leaders, who are in Argentina for the G20 summit, met in the prince's residence in Buenos Aires and discussed Saudi Arabia's readiness to supply India with oil and petroleum products.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman showed himself to be no pariah Friday (Nov 30) at the G-20 summit, with a beaming Vladimir Putin welcoming him but European leaders warning him over the killing of a dissident journalist. But it received wide traction on social media, with Macron telling the prince, "You never listen to me", to which Prince Mohammed replies, "I will listen, of course".

In a video posted by the Saudi Gazette newspaper the two leaders can be seen speaking in hushed tones with their heads close together.

Still, White House officials have long expressed unease about Hyde Smith and worry that she wasn't ready for prime time. But they say the appearances will provide a spark to their voters, too.

I've never experienced it the other way around that the team goes to hurry that everyone has the chance to make an equaliser. But Liverpool's fate is now in the balance after their miserable away form continued in the Parc des Princes.

However, some of the most interesting interactions are happening on the summit's sidelines, amid stand-offs over the US-China trade row, Russia's conflict with Ukraine and Saudi Arabia's involvement in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Saudi Arabia's public prosecutor has said the Crown Prince knew nothing of the operation to kill Khashoggi. Saudi authorities eventually admitted Khashoggi had been murdered.

While at the G20 summit, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Theresa May have both reportedly had words with the prince.

There has been widespread condemnation and public outrage over attacks on sites such as school bus and hospitals, where Yemeni civilians, including children, have died.

"They exchanged pleasantries at the leaders' session as he did with almost every leader in attendance", the White House official said on Friday.

Mr. Trump canceled his previously scheduled meeting with Putin on Thursday after he was briefed on the incident.

The two will likely find common ground in that the Russian leader has also been put under increasing pressure from Western countries in recent days.
