Ant reunites with Dec for first day back at work on BGT

McPartlin pulled out of hosting last year's Britain's Got Talent halfway through and cancelled his Saturday Night Takeaway and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! with Holly Willoughby by his side.

This formal statement was released by McPartlin's representative in July: 'Ant McPartlin today announces he will continue to take a break from all television presenting roles until 2019.

The simple snap showed the best friends and colleagues smiling as they sat in the back of their chauffeured auto.

Earlier in the day, Ant and Dec celebrated their on-screen reunion by sharing their first selfie together after ten months apart.

Moved to tears, Ant said: "Oh god, I'm really, really emotional now".

However, ITV has not yet confirmed the Britain's Got Talent 2019 start date, so they could change things this year.

Ant McPartlin is officially returning for Britain's Got Talent after taking a year off.

A fan who was at the auditions recorded Ant and Dec reuniting on stage, and the tweet quickly went viral. "Make sure you look out for each other - we've missed having you around Ant, and hope you're feeling better in yourself now". "Shall we crack on before I cry?"

Speaking to the audience before auditions began at the London Palladium, Dec said: "We've got the judges back, the golden buzzer is back, and someone else is back".

He said: "We see a competing show and think, 'We will take a bit of that show and put it into ours'". We missed you; it wasn't the same.

Judge Simon Cowell welcomed the Geordie back to the show, he told Ant the show "wasn't the same" without him.

A third fan wrote: "It's so good to see Ant back and to see these two back together".

McPartlin stepped down from all of his TV commitments after being charged with drink-driving in March a year ago, before he was later banned from the road for 20 months and fined £86,000.
