Democratic Lawmaker Goes After Trump On Her First Day In Office

In an interview that aired Thursday morning, Pelosi said that she will withhold a decision until Special Counsel Robert Mueller issues his report in the Russian Federation investigation.

Senior White House adviser, and Trump son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen were involved in the meeting Saturday, with Nielsen briefing those in attendance on border security.

At a news conference Friday, Trump called Tlaib's comments "disgraceful" and said she had "dishonored her family".

Trump said he planned to call the heads of American steel companies in hopes of coming up with a new design for the barrier he contends must be built along the southern border. Democrats criticized McConnell for waiting on Trump's support, but Collins said she was sympathetic to McConnell's opposition to moving legislation without agreement from the president. He said drugs, victims of human trafficking, criminals, and gang members are continuing to cross the border onto USA soil. We won the Senate, they won the House. The longest government shutdown was a 21-day clash between President Bill Clinton and Republicans that stretched from December 1995 to January 1996. This shutdown comes just as the Democrats are assuming control of the House after eight years of GOP rule, adding poison to a relationship with the White House that was fated to be sulfurous under the best of circumstances. But a Democratic aide familiar with the meeting said Democrats urged the White House to pass measures to reopen the government without wall funding and Pence said Trump would not do that.

The president has already suggested his definition of the wall is flexible, referring to slats and other "border things".

He tells reporters as he departs the White House for meetings at Camp David that he'll be asking the companies to design "a attractive steel product" and "we'll use that as our barrier".

Trump told reporters that, depending on ongoing discussions with the Democrats to end the partial government shutdown, he could take action very soon.

Oklahoma Sooners' defense stunned Alabama Crimson Tide's fast start
The College Football Playoff was cool and all, but the real story is Kevin Murray, father of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray . I just kind of feel like some of our guys were pissed off because we knew that was not as good as we can play.

The Sheldon Independent School District identified the girl as a second-grader at the nearby Monahan Elementary School. Authorities said three other girls were in the vehicle when the shooting happened.

Sharper New Horizons photos reveal Ultima Thule as a reddish space "snowman"
Keeping with the spirit of space exploration, the " New Horizons " song weaves in a few quotes by the late Stephen Hawking. The Kuiper Belt is the edge of our solar system, part of the original disk from which the sun and planets formed.

President Donald Trump says he doesn't expect anything to come out of a second day of negotiations between top administration officials and senior congressional staff trying to end the partial government shutdown now in its third week.

It pits Trump's unpredictable negotiating stylings against a largely united Democratic front, as many Republicans watch nervously from the sidelines and hundreds of thousands of federal workers go without pay.

"Are you recalibrating your assessment of how you can work with this president?"

Democrats, led by new Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, consider the wall to be immoral and have declined to approve the $5.6 billion Mr Trump wants as a part of the signature promise of his 2016 presidential campaign.

"There is a provision in law that says the president can declare an emergency".

Acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney told NBC's "Meet the Press" that he believes Democrats "think they're winning the PR battle and they're willing to drag this out because they think it hurts the president". The White House said money was not discussed in depth, but the administration was clear about the need for a wall and the goal of resolving the shutdown all at once, not piecemeal.

Trump asserted on Friday that he could declare a national emergency to build the wall without congressional approval, but would first try a "negotiated process".
