John Wall to undergo season-ending heel surgery

This will be the second straight season in which the Wizards lose Wall for an extended period.

The Washington Wizards announced on Saturday night that the All-Star point guard will undergo surgery on his heel to fix an issue that has impacted him for several years.

John Wall has bone spurs in his left heel which started to get really bad on December 8, according to Fred Katz of The Atheltic. Wall will finalise a timetable for the procedure in the following days.

The 28-year-old Wall is expected to be sidelined for 6 to 8 months because of surgery on the left heel and then rehab, the team said.

Wall has been playing through the pain, The Athletic reports, but it has become too much to manage.

Scott Brooks frequently hinted that there was something more serious going on with his franchise player because whenever he was asked about Wall's play, he would change the narrative to how the point guard is a warrior for fighting through different injuries. He missed a game with an injury to his heel December 10.

Wall had missed their last game against the Bulls with that injury.

ESPN first reported Wall's plan for surgery, after NBC Sports Washington learned that he was considering the procedure. Tomas Satoransky has been starting at the 1 in his absence.

The Washington Wizards' horrific, dramatic 2018 season has been painful to watch at times.
