Oakland A's expect Kyler Murray to declare for 2019 National Football League draft

University of Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman Trophy victor Kyler Murray was expected to play pro baseball after college, but that decision is now up in the air. Before taking over as Texas Tech's head coach in 2013, Kingsbury was the Aggies offensive coordinator and helped recruit Murray, who was starring at Allen High School.

Entering the draft doesn't necessarily mean that Murray will forgo his commitment to the Athletics, but Slusser and Schulman report that one source indicated to them that Murray is indeed leaning toward selecting football as his profession rather than baseball.

The Chronicle story says Murray is expected to declare for the NFL Draft on Sunday.

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report said recently if quarterbacks such as Lamar Jackson of the Ravens can be drafted in the first round, why can't Murray?

Bloomberg reported that Trump is eager to strike a deal to boost markets, citing people familiar with White House deliberations. The paper said in an editorial that the dispute harms both countries and disrupts the worldwide trade order and supply chains.

If Murray chooses the National Football League over baseball, he would have to return his signing bonus, though the A's would not get a compensation pick in the June draft. Honor that contract with the Oakland A's and play pro baseball, some suggest.

What sport do you think the quarterback should go with? Further, getting to Major League Baseball - even for first rounders - is far from a sure thing, whereas getting picked in the first round of the NFL pretty well guarantees being on an NFL roster immediately.

But about five minutes in, one question, in particular, stumped Murray.

Obviously, Kingsbury is now in Arizona, where the Cardinals own the first overall pick. In 2016, the top two picks were dealt with the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns recouping a pair of first-rounders and several more early picks. For instance, 16-year veteran Josh McCown has made $49 million over the course of his career after being a third-round pick in 2002.
