Tony Gonzalez, Champ Bailey, Ed Reed Headline 2019 Pro Football HOF Finalists

The Hall's Board of Selectors will meet February 2, in Atlanta, the day before Super Bowl LIII, to narrow the list of 15 finalists to a maximum of five enshrinees for the Class of 2019.

The 15 finalists are Tony Gonzalez, Isaac Bruce, John Lynch, Edgerrin James, Ed Reed, Steve Atwater, Champ Bailey, Ty Law, Tony Boselli, Kevin Mawae, Alan Faneca, Steve Hutchinson, Richard Seymour, Tom Flores and Don Coryell. He was taken in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.

Atwater was a two-time Super Bowl champion, an eight-time Pro Bowler and two-time First-Team All-Pro safety with the Denver Broncos from 1989-98.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its 2019 finalists on Thursday. And with Reed, who is in his first year of eligibility, there shouldn't be much discussion of whether he's worthy. The contributor finalists are Pat Bowlen (Denver Broncos owner) and Gil Brandt (Dallas Cowboys vice president of player personnel). He was honored as a member of the 2000's all-decade team, a bullet point that historically has carried significant weight with hall of fame voters.

The College Football Playoff was cool and all, but the real story is Kevin Murray, father of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray . I just kind of feel like some of our guys were pissed off because we knew that was not as good as we can play.

Gonzalez was selected to 14 Pro Bowls and is the NFL's all-time leader in receiving yards for tight ends with 15,127. He made seven Pro Bowls, including two with the Oakland Raiders.

He is one of only three players in National Football League history to register at least 100 tackles in their first ten games of their career.

Hopefully, we will get to see Zach Thomas in the Pro Football Hall of Fame before then. He finished his career with 1,024 receptions, 15,424 yards, and 91 touchdowns.

If Reed is chosen for induction, he would become the third Hall of Famer who spent the majority of his career with the Ravens. This year's senior finalist is safety Johnny Robinson.
