Woman in Vegetative State for Last 14 Years Gives Birth

"From what I've been told she was moaning and they didn't know what was wrong with her", an unidentified source told CBS Phoenix affiliate KPHO-TV. However, Spokeswoman Nancy Salmon of Hacienda Healthcare attempted to do damage control with the following statement.

A top executive at Hacienda HealthCare in Phoenix resigned amid a pending investigation into a woman at his facility who recently gave birth despite being in a vegetative state for more than a decade.

"As an organization, Hacienda HealthCare stands fully committed to getting to the truth of what, for us, represents an unprecedented matter", David Leibowitz, spokesman for Hacienda HealthCare, said in a statement released to ABC News.

[Redacted], 29 years old, is a patient at the Hacienda Del Sol in Phoenix, and has been in a persistent vegetative state and coma for over a decade.

The facility, which has room for over 50 patients, is now under investigation by police and the Arizona Department of Health Services.

"A lot of people are mad, my family included", says Gary Londer, a parent of a Hacienda HealthCare patient.

"Today, Phoenix Police investigators served a search warrant to obtain DNA from male Hacienda HealthCare staffers".

Lovren: Liverpool need luck against Man City
"I feel Liverpool will maintain their seven-point lead over City in the title-race by picking up a vital point at the Etihad". So, a City side going for broke against a Liverpool team looking to hit on the break means something has to give.

Faulty wiring likely cause of ‘Escape Room’ fire in Poland, firefighters say
The Escape Room game, which is popular in the United Kingdom , sees players deliberately locked inside a room or building. Police said the dead were found after firefighters put out the blaze , which began around 5 p.m.at a venue in Koszalin.

"No. None whatsoever. Not even able to communicate the fact that she was pregnant", claimed the source.

Given that the woman was in a vegetative state from a near-drowning incident and thus incapable of communicating consent or that she was pregnant, the pregnancy was clearly the result of sexual assault.

Police have launched a sexual assault investigation into the incident. "And we will do everything in our power to ensure the safety of every single one of our patients and our employees". "I stay in her room", Cesena told As It Happens host Carol Off.

"Trust has been severed, period", she said.

Other family members of patients told the news station that they'd noticed more security guards and a new protocol requiring male staffers to be accompanied by female staffers if they go into a female patient's room.

Hacienda almost lost its Medicare funding in December 2013 after Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) found at least one staff member was abusive to multiple patients while several staff members were deficient in reporting patient allegations of abuse by staff.

The Hacienda facility serves infants, children and young adults who are "medically fragile" or have developmental disabilities, according to its website. But one complaint from December 2013 outlines an allegation that a staff member made inappropriate sexual comments about four patients two months earlier.
