Battlefield V Underperforms and EA Blames Single Player For It

EA shared some preliminary figures showing $1.29 billion in revenue, including $908 million from digital sales and $381 million from packaged goods and "other net revenue". Of course, that doesn't mean they lost money, and they still turned a $262 million profit, it's just that they didn't match their own expectations. After coming up short, EA's CEO Andrew Wilson called it a "difficult quarter". Given how EA has repeatedly said that this is a "premium" game, that rules out this being a small, indie-ish title.

Wilson noted that the company's poor performance was also due to "intense competition" in the video gaming industry in fiscal Q3 2019.

This claim was highly disputed by other world leaders who said the fight against IS was far from over. As such, he said, 'It is time to give our courageous warriors in Syria a warm welcome home'.

This would really be a feather in the cap for Apex Legends, introducing the kind of competitive play that multiplayer gamers lust for with leaderboards. EA wanted Battlefield V to sell around 8.3 million units but only ended up around 7.3 million. He also pointed to the game's holiday launch.

Apex Legends swaps out Titanfall's rapid wall-traversal and giant mech fights for a battle royale experience reminiscent of Fortnite, leaving its connection to the original games rather tenuous.

First is that Apex Legends is being built from the ground up with a view that it has the potential to engage and entertain hundreds of millions of players.

It isn't a bad plan, as Fortnite is the biggest game around at the moment. Investors are certainly being cautious-EA's share price is down more than 13 percent this morning.
