Michael Fish's NBC26 Winter Storm forecast

Michael Fish's NBC26 Winter Storm forecast

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for areas along and east of a line from Mt.Pleasant, Iowa to Geneseo and Dixon, Illinois through Tuesday as well. The commutes for both Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening may be a messy ride. Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny, but a chance of rain and snow will return on Thursday afternoon and continue through Friday. The storm will unleash huge amounts of snow and as much as six to 12 inches is forecast in some areas. Even though we won't be down to freezing in DC, a little sleet on the roads could still cause some slippery spots overnight and early Monday morning. The snow starts in the southwest mainly after 8pm this evening, moving into Milwaukee after 10pm though some flurries are certainly possible before then.

However, the highest snowfall totals are expected on the upper Mississippi Valley from late on Monday, February 11 to Tuesday night.

A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect overnight for all of southeast MI, leading to a tough commute Tuesday morning. There's a possibility of around an inch of snow and sleet accumulation possible.

There will also be blowing snow, with wind gusts of up to 80 km/h.
