Smokey Robinson calls Jennifer Lopez Motown tribute complainers 'stupid'

Yet the 49-year-old superstar was the one who sexily led the Motown Records tribute at the 2019 Grammy Awards - so, naturally, people were upset about it. Smokey Robinson, who joined Lopez on stage Sunday, defended her during a pre-Grammy gala on Saturday.

"Any type of music can inspire any type of artist ..." "So now you're gonna to try to diminish the scope of Motown and narrow it down to just music for Black people and you call yourself defending the image of Motown".

"You can't tell people what they can and can't do - what they should sing or not sing", Lopez told "Entertainment Tonight" in a Twitter clip, below.

In response to the criticism, Motown tweeted and then deleted a statement in defense of Lopez.

"I don't think anyone who's intelligent is upset", the 78-year-old entertainer said, "I think anyone who's upset is stupid".

'It's just a small amount of shows, but we'll be out all through June and July, I think, ' Jennifer said.

The Associated Press does not generally name victims of alleged sexual assault, but both women have come forward voluntarily. Fairfax issued a statement Saturday again denying the allegations and saying his encounters with the women were consensual .

In addition to singing the medley of songs, Lopez didn't stop moving the entire time.

Jennifer Lopez has revealed she will be celebrating her 50th birthday by going on tour. The artist will be playing fewer than 30 shows across the USA, making it all the more special for fans.

"There are SO many Motown artists who are alive and well, so why aren't these artists performing in the Motown tribute?" one viewer asked.

The tour will also feature the "World of Dance Experience", in which audiences will be treated to surprise dance guest performances by stars from her NBC dance show "World of Dance".

Berry Gordy, who stood during Lopez's performance, founded Motown Records in 1959.
