Wells Fargo Reports Online Banking, Mobile App Are Down Nationwide

As of 10 a.m., online banking services remained unavailable.

At about 12:45 p.m. EST Wells Fargo said on its Twitter account power had been terminated at one of its facilities due to the presence of smoke found by routine maintenance. In January 2018, the company experienced a glitch with customers reporting their bank accounts drained and others of multiple processed payments.

The bank's ATMs were also not functioning properly and customers encountered issues when trying to use their debit and credit cards. It is unknown how many customers have been impacted by these technical problems. KCBS Radio received a report from a Wells Fargo customer in Hawaii confirming the problem extended there as well.

The outage affected Wells Fargo customers all around the United States, with all of the coastal areas experiencing the heaviest issues.

Many who saw the post, however, were not satisfied with the bank's response.

Angry customers took to Twitter to vent about the problems they encountered.

Many said they were stranded at gas stations and stores unable to complete their purchases.

The company later said it is working to fix the "intermittent" outages in a second tweet.
